“Ow!” Neshae had stepped on something sharp. He picked it up. “You were wearing this earlier.”
”AAH! Give that back.” Neshae suddenly felt really sly and held it out of Matthew’s reach. When Matthew tried jumping for it Neshae took off leaving Matthew on the ground looking annoyed.
“If you remember, we’re after someone here.”
“I just want to try it on!” Neshae called down.
Try it on? Matthew was worried. The chain had the power to change people into what they wanted most. He had no idea what Neshae really REALLY wanted inside, and didn’t know how to change him back…
“No! Wait!” Matthew called.
“Too late! This looks ok on me, maybe we should try it on someone else la-“
A blinding light crossed the sky and Neshae was caught in it. The waters of the Fairy Council rippled. “ARGH!” Matthew heard, unsure if it was Neshae or not. All he could hope was that Neshae had a heart’s desire that wasn’t painful enough to end him.
