The Great Gateway 2 – Chapter 2
In the middle of the grasslands, the pride were getting prepared for the hunt. Samuel and Phoebe sat close by talking and laughing. On occasion they playfully scratched each other. Samuel was trying to remove his excitement of his hunt. The blow that did this was to follow...
“What’s that… that gas?” Samuel noted. On the horizon was a noxious cloud. It was covering most of the grasslands in the east.
”You mean that?” Phoebe asked. “It’s probably just rain and fog.”
“Hmm,” wondered Samuel. He kept his eye on it while Phoebe was called for hunting practice. It didn’t seem bad. He was more worried it would call off his hunt rather than harm anyone. The cloud began to move towards them. He was about to warn everyone to find some shelter when he realise something was horribly wrong…
“Where’s the land? And the animals? And why is it so dark there?” During it’s passing the gas had nearly erased what the land was worth. Nothing seemed to remain. Then he remembered it was heading towards him and his family. He couldn’t move until Phoebe did.
”Big Brother, what’s wrong with the field over there?” Samuel snapped…
“RUN!” he screamed. It seemed the adults understood his fears and darted in all directions. Samuel grabbed Phoebe’s paw and tried to run too. But he couldn’t, he wasn’t used to three legs. What else could he do though? He wasn’t going to leave her to die.
But he couldn’t go on, he tripped up on himself and collapsed on the ground, Phoebe was just out of his reach. The gas overshadowed the area and covered Samuel. He heard Phoebe screaming. ‘She’s good’ he thought. ‘I can’t do that’ Then he passed out.

Chapter 2 of the Great Gateway 2 is relatively small, but I could only add a cliffhanegr like this. Hopefully Samuel will be accepted as a new character. If he is, I may try to fit him into Seeing the Universe (if that's ok with everyone)
